Well, Rishi Sunak and the conservatives successfully lost the UK Election after doing everything possible for self – sabotage. I wrote about the worst political campaign here, prior to the voting.
The YouTuber Niko Omilana literally gave him the ‘L’ and held up the letter behind him during his surrendering speech. The fact that this random guy was able to infiltrate the stage and stay there really proves that no one including Sunak cared about this election.
I don’t know a huge amount about the UK voting system, so pardon the ignorance. It appears similar to Australia’s process for the House of Representatives, however uses a method called ‘First-Past-the-Post’. This means that they only elect one candidate based on majority or plurality. It also means they essentially ignore party and individual voter’s secondary preferences. Because of this, they get some unusual results.

From first glance, you would think that Labour’s victory meant they picked up a huge amount of voters. They achieved a whopping 211 more seats than last time and the Conservatives lost 251. However, once you look at voter share, you will realize that Labour only won merely 1.6% more of the vote share than last election. This totals around one third of the entire vote, yet they hold nearly two thirds of the seats.
The other unusual result appears when comparing Reform UK and the Liberal Democrats. Both parties got around 15% percent, yet the Liberal Democrats achieved 72 seats and Reform UK got merely 5. This can be explained through Reform UK’s voter base being spread across the country, whereas Liberal Democrats is highly focused in a few areas.
Now I bring all this up for a one primary reason, and that is to celebrate the death of the major parties. Obviously, the Conservatives lost this election with a 19.9% drop in vote share. Despite what appears as a major victory for Labour, they have barely increased their vote. This is made even worse because it means that the former Conservative voters did not elect the alternative major party, but instead supported the minors.
Another data point that supports this: is that there were 7.6% less voters this election than the previous one. This just reinforces the idea that the population is dissatisfied and doesn’t see value in the major parties or democracy broadly.
Keir Starmer, his Jewish wife and the Labour Party in general have no plans to stir the pot and improve the lives of the UK citizens. My prediction is that they will alienate their own base over the next ruling cycle. This will further encourage the growth of minor parties and one may either take their place, or a coalition will form.
I’ve witnessed the collapse of major parties across the West in the past decade and it doesn’t appear to be stopping. Both the Labor and Liberal parties in Australia actually decreased their share of the vote last federal election, and we see a similar result in every state. The European Union election results showed a similar trajectory and parties such as the Alternative for Deutschland are taking the stage as viable leaders.
In comparison to the major parties: some of these minors are even worse, some are closer to our ideals and some are almost perfect. The best thing about all of these though, is that they remain more easily infiltrated and manipulated. So the answer is clear, the destruction of the old is providing us an opportunity to wield our own future. We must take hold of the growing parties and subsequently take hold of our own destiny. This is not an easy or instantaneous feat, but it is achievable.
So, I’ll see you on the wild side my friend.
