So Tucker Carlson had his infamous interview with Vladimir Putin and did his rounds across Russia a while back. It’s reminiscent of Oliver Stone’s 2017 interviews in which I concluded that President Putin is a pretty cool guy. One notable thing Carlson had discussed is the level of comfort and safety he feels within Russia.
The obese Hungarian Zionist and former Trump advisor Sebastian Gorka took major issue with Carlson’s claims about crime in Russia and likened it to North Korea and Nazi Germany. This isn’t the win that gluttonous Gorka thinks it is.
‘It is difficult for me to imagine what “personal liberty” is enjoyed by an unemployed person, who goes about hungry, and cannot find employment…’ – Joseph Stalin
I of course have mixed feelings about Stalin, especially in relation to his anti – Christian views. However, I agree with this quote completely and would apply it similarly to crime. What personal liberty can be enjoyed by a person constantly under the threat of his neighbors? This is why I quickly rejected Libertarian and Anarchist ideals. The United States is apparently the freest nation in the world, yet people live in fear of ethnic gangs robbing, beating and killing them.
So I’ve decided to compare the crime statistics between Russia and the United States. This data is actually a little difficult to find and confusing due to the conflicting sources. I am suspicious on the struggle to find some of this data and wished to include more; however there is enough to paint this unpleasant picture. I even had ChatGPT blatantly lie to me and just increase Russia’s homicide rate.
According to the World Bank’s 2021 data set, Russia and the United States’ homicide rate per 100,000 people is almost identical sitting just below 7. (https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/VC.IHR.PSRC.P5)
I stitched together a table from the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime that highlights kidnapping, serious assault and sexual violence (rape). You can clearly see that the United States of America has a higher per capita rate than Russia in these three fields. (https://dataunodc.un.org/crime-violent-offences)
When looking at poverty, both unemployment numbers for 2021 sit between 3 – 4%. (https://databank.worldbank.org/Crime-rate/id/e67da82)
In 2021 Russia’s poverty headcount ratio at $2.15 a day was 0.2%: whereas the United States in 2022 was 1.2% (essentially negligible). (https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SI.POV.DDAY)
The American propaganda machine consistently promotes this idea that Russia is a third world nation with vast amounts of crime and poverty. In truth, Russia is either on par or far below the crime rates of the United States. Importantly, Russia appears to be decreasing in criminal activity at a faster pace. The American dream has become merely a façade built upon the defamation of other countries.
